Superdry Beauty and Makeup - New Launch

Launching in just a few days time... February 2013 the Superdry Beauty Collection.

When I think of Superdry I think of David Beckham - He put this brand on the map after being pictured wearing the clothing. I have to confess though it was my husband who mentioned this fact to me outside the Superdry store, well you couldn't get me in quick enough!

Now, I have seen pretty much the whole beauty collection and it stays true to the Superdry design style and branding. The details are spot on. From the cardboard outer packaging, neon brights, to its flashes of metal and of course the Japanese influence. A perfect fit in fact.

The range is comprehensive, with a whole host of items, everything from polishes to eye liners, handcreams, lipsticks, bronzer, tweezers, mirrors and more.

When I was introduced to the collection back in November I was particularly drawn to the fab neon wipe clean make up bags (£10).

I was recently sent a few items from the range to try out

Superdry Peppermint LipFix £6

Yummy mint scent the clear lipfix soothes and protects dry chapped lips. This has gone straight into my handbag. I love the squeezy metal tube and it leaves lips looking so glossy.

Also comes in Watermelon and Coconut flavours.

Superdry Professional Eyeshadow Powder Rose Colour £8

Powder Rose is a very light shimmer shadow that works well as an all over eye brightener, however I find it personally to be too subtle for my skin. It blends really well as it is has a really soft and smooth consistency.

(see swatches at the end)

Superdry LipGlaze £7.50 Rose Pink and Sweet Peach

I love the LipGlazes, these are my stand out products from what I was sent. Similar to Stila Lip Glaze. These are so handy and easy to apply. With a delicious vanilla scent and a brush applicator, I cannot rave about them enough. Incredibly glossy (for a glass like finish) with the teeniest of shimmer to enhance your pout they are brilliant.

GLAMGLOW Tingling & Exfoliating Mud Mask - Review

Despite the product description that it was a 'tingling' mud mask, which is something I would usually avoid,  the claims were just to good for me to ignore. I HAD to try this mask and put the claims to the test.

GLAMGLOW Tingling & exfoliating Mud Mask

The claims

A serious WOW facial treatment for when you need great skin and a glowing complexion in just 10 minutes.

GLAMGLOW delivers both instant and cumulative results and leaves your complexion revived and glowing for 3 days after each application. With its heritage in Hollywood film studios, GLAMGLOW has flown off the shelves stateside and is now available in the UK.

Super Sexy Super Radiant Skin

Skin collagen synthesis for a noticeable 3 day glow
Brighter, radiant skin in minutes
Leaves skin noticeably soft and smooth
Multi-level resurfacing exfoliation
Penetrates into the deepest layers of the skin to soften fine lines and wrinkles
Tightens, tones and lifts the skin
Relives dark circles and minimises pores
Absorbs impurities without removing natural oils
Suitable for all skin types, ages and for both men and women
Contains no artificial colours or fragrances

Ingredients include Volcanic Rock, French Sea Clay and Green Tea Leaf Pieces.

My thoughts

For a mud mask the scent is sublime - fresh, green tea. It smells just like Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea which I absolutely love. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

To use you apply in a smooth medium thick layer across the skin, it then tingles and dries lighter (in around 10 minutes). To remove you either rinse off with water or in circular movements to get the full exfoliating effect (from the volcanic rock).

My goodness I was not expecting much I have to be honest, well I was wowed by this tiny taster of a mask.

The tingling was actually quite pleasant as opposed to unbearable. The mask dries so incredibly tight you don't dare move a muscle. I opted to exfoliate so felt the full harshness (it was fine!) of the rock.

The results

My skin looked amazing. Like I had just had a facial. It was bright and radiant with a real glow and so, so clear. I would actually have been happy to have walked out the house with no make up. Incredible.

Very, very impressive product that I will be investing in.

However, as this mud mask is not cheap I will be saving it for more special occasions.

GLAMGLOW Mud Mask costs £22.50 for a 15 ml tube or £49.99 for a 50ml tub - Marks and Spencer now stocks this product.

The tube pictured is 7ml (£4.99) a deluxe mini that gives between 1-2 applications. Available from the GLAMGLOW website.

Perfume Sample Saturday - PRADA CANDY Eau De Parfum

PRADA CANDY

Is instantly seductive - pure pleasure wrapped in impulsive charm. In an explosion of shocking pink and gold, Prada Candy takes us on a walk on the wild side, showing us a new facet of Prada femininity where more is more and excess is everything.

The pure indulgence and enjoyment of Prada Candy lies in its excess. Prada Candy is a fragrance with a novel olfactory balance combining exceptionally high-quality ingredients in excessive proportions. Magnified by White Musks, noble Benzoin comes together with a modern Caramel accord to give the fragrance a truly unique signature.

Top Notes - Musks Cocktail
Heart notes - Benzoin Overdose
Base notes - Caramel Explosion

My thoughts

Smooth, sweet and delicately musky. I hadn't read the description before I sprayed and have to say I was expecting a Prada scent to be loud, a real statement perfume. However, Candy is sweet by name and sweet by fragrance. Personally I find this scent to bring out my girly and playful nature rather than my more seductive and sophisticated side. The caramel tones are gorgeously blended with the musk to provide a slight oriental aspect but I found the scent to be so delicate as to be barely detectable on me after an hour which was disappointing. Curiously I did not detect much vanilla from the benzoin at all. Nice but not a stand out scent.

I think this would appeal to a younger female market.

PRADA CANDY Eau De Parfum costs £40 for 30ml

Winter Hand Creams - My Top Picks

Three gorgeous hand creams, each one has been a saviour for me this winter, keeping my hands, soft, smooth and hydrated day and night.

L'Occitane Almond Smooth Hands £8 for 30ml

This is a light hand cream that I use after doing the washing up or washing my hands or just if my hands feel a little dry through the day. Although this is from the same collection as my holy grail shower oil  the scent is much fresher and delicate. It is green and leafy, the smell is just like the burst you get when breaking open an almond shell. Enriched with softening almond milk and smoothing almond proteins. I love it.

Crabtree & Evelyn Himalayan Blue Hand Therapy £5 for 25g

This hand cream is slighter thicker than the L'Occitane one and therefore a bit more moisturising. I keep this in my hand bag for applying when out and about. Especially when my hands have been exposed to the cold. I had no idea what to expect from this scent but it is rather delicious. Crabtree and Evelyn describe the fragrance as an enigmatic blend of smoked black tea, warm ginger and spices, and golden champaca, touched with a mysterious accord of patchouli, leather notes, and exotic woods. You need to smell it to appreciate it. Contains shea butter and macadamia nut oil.

Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Intensive Smoothing Hand Creme £52 for 100ml

The tube pictured is a 30ml version that came in an Estee Lauder cracker. As the name suggests this is a real treatment hand cream which is thick and creamy. I pop this on for overnight intensive moisturising. Rich and indulgent, this has the familiar Lauder scent which is one of my favourites. Smooths lines and reduces dark ageing spots.

Hand Creams From L-R   Crabtree& Evelyn, L'Occitane, Estee Lauder - You can see the difference in texture by looking at these.

What have you been applying to your hands this winter?

SUPER FACIALIST Rose Hydrate Miracle Makeover Facial Oil - Review

Well we have had no respite from the cold weather recently, in fact it has got colder. The cold weather combined with the heating being turned up has meant that my poor skin has just not been itself. I have suffered from drier, tighter feeling skin.

So when SUPER FACIALIST Rose Hydrate Miracle Makeover Facial Oil popped through the letterbox I was only too pleased to give it a go... wait a minute.. reading the back of the packaging I soon realised this was actually not a facial oil at all but a pre cleanser...confused? I was...but only because it didn't mention it on the front.

When I have really heavy make up on I do double cleanse but with the same product. However, this facial oil is intended for use all the time, before a cleanser.

Claims

This dual purpose 'wonder blend' of aromatherapy essential oils can be used to pre-cleanse by deeply penetrating the skin and loosening oils that clog and block pores. Potent vitamin rich oils including Cucumber, Sweet Almond, Avocado, Calendula, Carrot, Raspberry (rich in omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids) and Sunflower act to hydrate and calm dehydrated sensitive skin and moisture trapping Glycerine draws water into the outer layer of the skin helping to make skin more supple.

My thoughts

Rose Hydrate Miracle Makeover Facial Oil is lovely, really lovely in fact. I like the scent (not really like rose, so don't be put off if you are not keen on rose scented products). Applying the oil to the skin in massaging strokes feels wonderful and rather calming, a welcome step in my skincare routine. You remove it by wiping it off with a warm soft flannel. The oil doesn't emulsify.

My skin feels as soft as a peach after using the facial oil, incredibly soft and so clean. I didn't realise until I started incorporating this extra step into my routine how clean it could feel and it looks radiant too. The pores on my nose look so much better now too, cleaner and smaller and dare I say it.. barely visible.

Follow this step with a cleanser.

* I was also sent the Rose Hydrate Creamy Cleanser £7.99 for 150ml to use afterwards but I wasn't keen  on the scent at all so I am using a different cleanser instead (surprising as I usually love rose scented products). Although when sniffing the product from the tube it had the usual rose scent on the skin this translated to something that was was rather sharp and strong and not at all like rose.

* Una Brennan is a top facialist and she has created this skincare range exclusively for Boots. The products are free from mineral oils/petrochemicals, animal ingredients and synthetic colours and are not tested on animals.

Super Facialist Rose Hydrate Miracle Makeover Facial Oil costs £14.99 for 30ml (just looked on the Boots website and it is currently £9.99!)

In Love With - Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Epatant

I fell in love with Chanel Illusion D'ombre in Epatant a long time ago. I swatched it in this post  and never forgot how beautiful and multi faceted the eye shadow appeared. I knew that it would really bring out the green in my eyes, with its silver/green tones.

Now that I finally have it in my possession I have been proved right. it is just as gorgeous as I remembered. It makes my eyes look absolutely stunning and it remains perfect all day. The wonderful silkygel like texture applies like a dream, blends nicely and doesn't crease at all.

With flash - see all the colours!

My eyes glisten when the light hits the eye shadow and they are packed with colour. Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eye Shadow can be applied sheer for a wash of colour or layered for a more intense look. Next time I wear Epatant I am going to apply black liner all round my eyes for even more impact!

I would definitely purchase more in this collection (there are currently 9). I think a gold like Apparence would be the ideal addition to my eye shadow collection.

Have you tried Chanel Illusion D'Ombre?

Sample Sachet Sunday - Sanctuary Spa Active Reverse Thermal Transformation Mask

As promised, on Friday, I tried the mask which came with the January 2013 Glossybox  so that I could have this review ready for Sunday.

Sanctuary Spa - 30 Day Thermal Transformation

Comes with 2 sachets

One is the Peptide Transformation Serum the other the Thermal Rose Clay Mask.

How to use -

1. Cleanse skin thoroughly, removing all traces of make-up. Pat skin dry
2. Smooth a generous layer of Peptide Transformation Serum (Step 1) over the face & neck
3. Next, massage a generous, even layer of the Thermal Rose Clay Mask (Step 2) on top of the serum to generate warming effect, ensuring the whole face and neck is covered. Avoid the delicate skin around the eyes
4. Allow the heating effect to cool naturally while you relax for 15 minutes
5. Rinse off with warm water using the muslin cloth & pat dry
6. Follow with the Peptide Protect Day Cream SPF 20 to protect the newly revealed skin
7. Use this treatment 2 to 3 times a week but not on consecutive days

Claims -

Reveal smoother, glowing, more youthful skin with our 30 day Thermal Transformation Mask.

The special peptide and hyaluronic acid contained in this treatment have been shown to strengthen the collagen network to plump and repair skin’s structures, as well as giving a tauter surface to reduce any ‘crepey’ skin.

When combined with powerful natural extracts that provide a hydration surge, the treatment leaves skin feeling firmer and looking smoother and refined, with a visible reduction in the appearance of wrinkles.

The Thermal Transformation Mask begins with the Peptide Transformation Serum, followed by the Thermal Rose Clay Mask. An intensely warming effect helps optimise the action of the encapsulated enzyme to deeply cleanse & refine the skin surface. After 4 weeks the two step mask visibly firms and refines to reveal an even skin tone and to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Encouraging cell-renewal and boosting hydration levels, means that when the mask is washed away, your complexion has a glowing, dewy finish.

L- Serum R - Clay Mask

My thoughts

As mentioned in the Glossybox review the product did promise instant results after one use of skin looking brighter & tauter and noticeably reducing 'crepey' skin. The sachets provided only one use.
I liked the ritual of cleansing, applying the serum (which I was surprised to find was a thick cream) and following this with the clay mask over the top of it. I loved the feeling of the warming sensation but to my intense disappointment this didn't last long at all. I sat back and relaxed for 15 minutes whilst reading a book, waiting for the magic to do its work.

The results

Scent wise this has a slight herbal smell and the rose clay mask has a very subtle rose scent, very pleasant to use and apply.

Once I had rinsed off the mask, my face felt so soft and actually I am very pleased to report that my skin looked incredibly smooth (fine line free) and plumped. This works!

I would actually be very interested in trying a full size product as the effect was visible to see and I want to know if it lasts..

Sanctuary Spa Active Reverse Thermal Transformation Mask costs £27.50

Perfume Sample Saturday - Cartier Baiser Vole Eau de Parfum - Review

Another weekend and another sample perfume to try. I must admit I am really enjoying working through all the vials and sprays that I have in my perfume box, each weekend I just pick one out and allow myself to experience something new.

Cartier Baiser Volé Eau de Parfum

Baiser Volé meaning Stolen Kiss

Description

A pure floral. A Lily, reinventing the freshness of the leaves, the floral notes of the petals and the powderiness of the flowers pistil. A stolen kiss, for a moment of pure passion.

Every aspect of the lily, a flower of unsettling femininity, is explored for the first time.

My thoughts

The initial spray is quite sharp and acidic and at that precise moment I wasn't sure whether I was going to like this perfume at all. However, once a few seconds had passed, this unpleasantness was replaced with the green scent of freshly cut flowers which was far more pleasurable. A few minutes later there was a delightful hint of floral. Baiser Volé finally settles to reveal a soft, sweet and quite simply beautiful powdery scent that is truly magnificent with an air of sophistication. If clouds were scented they would be just like this. Think marshmallows or a huge, bouncy four poster bed full of fluffy sheets and pillows. It evokes such sweet thoughts that I find this such a joy to wear.

It does remind me of Love Chloe which I find to be far stronger and more soapy than powdery in comparison.

Cartier Baiser Volé EDP Spray costs £47 for 30ml

What's Inside My January 2013 GlossyBox

My GlossyBox was delivered sometime yesterday but as I was out all day I have just opened the box and as January is the traditional month for Detox, yes you guessed it the theme is DETOX.

Billed as the Detox box, it is designed to provide you with all the necessary tools to hide the excesses of the holiday season and the Sleepless New Year's night. The Detox box will help you look and feel your best for a successful start into the New Year.

The Contents

First up a rather sweet GlossyBox sleep mask, this is a bonus product but I have many a need for this!

BM Beauty - Dewy Perfection Finishing Powder 1g (4g is £8)

Claims - A translucent powder with a 100% natural mineral formula. Use on its own to create a dewy finish, under foundation to diminsh fine lines and blemishes, over foundation for an airbrushed finished that keeps your base in place all day. Can also be used as a highlighter on cheeks and brow bones.

I have been using Clinique's Gentle Light Powder Glow (sadly discontinued) lots recently as I love the  flawless finish and staying power it gives me, this sounds very similar so I am looking forward to seeing how this compares.

Eco-BOUTIQUE - Body Lotion With Aloe Leaf and Green Tea 30ml (50ml as part of gift set £8.50)

Description - The delicate scent of mimosa and extracts of organic green tea and aloe leaf create a soothing body lotion to give smooth, hydrated skin.

This smells really nice. The scent is similar to cucumber, very fresh. I like the fact that it is paraben free. I will be using this sample.

MONU - Micro Exfoliant 30ml (100ml is £14.50)

Claims - This poweful dual-action microdermabrasion delivers instant radiant skin, refining the skin's texture, reducing the appearance of pores and fine lines. This instant pick-me-up with papaya enzymes and Shea butter provides an immediate healthy 'new skin' effect. Use 2-3 times a week if you have oily or congested skin. Once a week for acneic, dry or mature skin.

After the huge success of Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant that was in a previous box and which I now love, I am very much looking forward to trying this out and once again making a comparison..

Great tip on the bottle - If exfoliating regularly, use sunscreen to help protect your skin.

Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for Eyes 3.5ml (15ml is £57)

Claims - Immediate hydration that firms and awakens the delicate eye area.

Quite like the idea of firming and awakening my eye area, will let you know how I find this product!

SANCTUARY SPA - Active Reverse Facial - 30 Day Thermal Transformation (2 sachets, Peptide Transformation Serum 3.5ml and Thermal Rose Clay Mask 7ml) Full Size £27.50

Claims - Reveal smoother, glowing, more youthful skin with our 30 day Thermal Transformation Mask.

Now this is a disappointment..I love the idea of the claims and the product but sadly you don't get a 30 day supply :-( The sachet is just one use but it does promise that you can see instant results of skin looking brighter & tauter, noticeably reducing 'crepey' skin after the first use.

I am going to give this a whirl on Friday, watch out for the Sachet Review on Sunday to find out what I think of it.

My thoughts

No full size product, no make up, no perfume at first glance I was a little underwhelmed...however when I actually took a proper look at the contents and read what they were for, I realised that actually in terms of samples and mix of products this was an excellent box (just a shame that there was not one full size product though!). It is not all that often that I will keep and actually try all of the products but on this occasion, I most definitely will.

What do you think? Was this a good box? What did you receive in your box?

Elemis Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules

This Winter I have been using either a serum or facial oil to give my skin that extra moisture boost that it needs and hopefully injecting some much needed anti-ageing benefits!

Elemis say

Elemis Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules contain pure Moringa Oil with its unique anti-ageing properties to dramatically renew skin elasticity and skin youthfulness. Anti-Oxidants physically repair the visible signs of ageing and counteract the damaging effects of pollution by sweeping clean your network of skin cells, ridding it of harmful toxins.

Use one pink Rose capsule in the morning to stimulate micro circulation and vitality. Follow in the evening with one green Lavender capsule to repair the skin and encourage a peaceful night's sleep.

My thoughts

This pot contained a 7 day supply of the Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules. Green capsules to be applied at night, pink capsules first thing in the morning. Now this is what I like..no guess work involved, simple instructions and the amount already worked out for you. Fuss free skincare at its best.

Both the rose and lavender scents were pleasant and actually I am sure my sleep was improved during this time..My skin looked bright and rested (not at all oily) and felt nice and soft. I didn't witness any dramatic change in my skin in 7 days as really I would think that you would have to use this product for at least 30 days before reaping any real benefit.

Elemis Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules costs £62 for a 30 day supply.

Love For - L'Occitane Almond Delicious Paste - Review

The delectable Almond Shower Oil was my introduction to the L'Occitane brand and what an introduction it was, the product became my Holy Grail bathing product and since then I have never looked back. I am a huge fan of the brand and its fantastic products.

I have been using the Almond Delicious Paste recently and have been suitable impressed with this very apt product... Delicious it most certainly is!

L'Occitane say

Seriously good.

Sample Sachet Sunday - Organic Surge Tropical Bergamot Body Lotion

After a shower I dug out this sachet of Organic Surge Tropical Bergamot Body Lotion to try out and actually found that I had two which was fortunate as one sachet was only enough to do half my body.

Organic Surge say

For All Skin Types

Tropical Bergamot Body Lotion is super-hydrating and quickly absorbed to protect from dryness and irritation. Skin-conditioning shea butter and glycerine leave skin feeling soft, smooth and moisturised. Enriched with organic bergamot and sweet orange essential oils,

My thoughts

I am a huge fan of Organic Surge, I have liked every product that I have tried from them and I am happy to report that the Tropical Bergamot Body Lotion lives up to its claims. It smells wonderful, the orange scent is subtle and appealing. As it is a lotion it is fairly runny in consistency but absorbs quickly so that you can dress pretty much straight after application. The scent doesn't last but my skin was left feeling soft 17 hours later.

If you are looking for affordable skincare that doesn't contain parabens, SLS, artificial colourants and fragrants I strongly recommend you give this range a try.

Organic Surge Tropical Bergamot Body Lotion costs £5.99 for 200ml.

Perfume Sample Saturday - Lolita Lempicka Si Lolita Review

Si Lolita de Lolita Lempicka , the Scent of Happiness. The secret spicy freshness of Sweet Pea.

Top notes of Pink Peppercorn, Mandarin and Bergamot.
Heart notes of Wallflower, Sweet Pea and Heliotrope.
Base notes of Elemi GumAmber, Patchouli and Tonka Bean.

My thoughts

Fresh, fruity and spicy! This is a floral oriental scent that begins very peppery with the citrus really bursting through trying to gain attention. As the day goes on it becomes a bright and yet delicate floral before it fades revealing base notes which are warm and ever so slightly masculine.

The bottle design is so pretty, a four leaf clover outlined in gold. Tied on the neck a fashionable black and white polka dot scarf!

This scent did make me feel happy when I was wearing it but I won't be going on to purchase a full size bottle as it is not quite me..

Si Lolita de Lolita Lempicka Eau de Parfum costs £35 for 30ml

Nails Of The Day - Chanel Le Vernis Quartz 525

Chanel Le Vernis 525 Quartz what a beauty you are.

It really comes alive when under the lights, glistening in a most marvellous manner. Multi faceted, I have admired gold, green and silver coming through depending on the angle that it catches the light. This is a gorgeous blend of silver (almost frosty) and warm champagne beige, that is anything but boring.

I applied 4 coats but you can get away with 3 to achieve opacity. I then added pink diamontes straight down the nail and finished with a top coat.

I wouldn't normally post a photo with such flashback but this was the only one that shows just how shimmery and bubbly (think champagne) Quartz is. Love.

What do you think?
