Clinique Cheek Pop - Beautiful Spring Blushers

If you only buy one beauty item this week make it one of the delightful Spring Blushers from Clinique - The new Cheek Pop comes in a clear compact so you can see that super cute Gerber daisy design.

I was sent Berry Pop to try out

Clinique Cheek Pop in Berry Pop

The design is so pretty it (almost!) seems a shame to use it but use it I have and I absolutely love it. I must confess I am not a huge pink blush fan but judging by the results perhaps I should be...

The blusher is slightly domed in shape and of course features the Gerber daisy design that I mentioned above. The blusher is a dream to work with with its silky smooth texture that leaves no powdery residue. It is virtually undetectable on the skin yet imparts a beautiful natural blush glow. Of course if you prefer a stronger look then it is perfectly buildable with a few more strokes of your brush.

Swatch of Berry Pop and blended fairly heavily

Models Own Utopia Nail Polish - Nails Of The Day

Models Own Utopia is too cute not to share!

Today's Nails Of The Day. Utopia is a delicate nude shade with an ever so slight nod to lilac, a beautiful and muted, milky shade that is just so damn wearable.

I used two coats to achieve opacity.

Marks & Spencer Toffee Fudge & Belgian Chocolate Hot Cross Buns

I like Hot Cross Buns but I wouldn't say I love them, however when I heard that there was a sweet alternative to the traditional Hot Cross Bun I knew I had to check them out...

Marks and Spencer Toffee Fudge & Belgian Chocolate Hot Cross Buns taste just as delightful as they sound. They contain dark Belgian chocolate chips and toffee and fudge pieces. The dark chocolate is ever so slightly bitter, the toffee and fudge deliciously sweet. I like mine warmed, melted and gooey for a naughty elevenses treat!

Have you tried them yet?

Jo Malone London Rain Collection - Rain & Angelica Cologne

It's raining Jo Malone!

Jo Malone's newest collection takes inspiration from the London Rain which let's face it we know plenty about..

This beautiful collection features four colognes each representing rain at various times of the day.

Rain & Angelica

Glassy beads of dew, awakening a London park at dawn. A revitalising scent, enlivened with herbaceous angelica and juicy lime on an earthy base of vetiver. Aqueous and clear.

My thoughts

I absolutely adore the freshness of dawn and Rain & Angelica captures its juicy freshness with the zesty lime and greenness of the angelica. As the day goes on the scent dries to a more earthy greenness. much like a London Park!

I am liking this cologne a lot and it really is perfect for Spring. It is light and fresh and classy. In my head I picture a woman wearing a crisp white shirt, a pencil skirt, a statement bag and flat pumps to navigate the bustling early morning London streets whilst heading to work.

Of course I have to mention the gorgeous bottle too which has that all important shelf appeal.

You will never think of rain in the same way.

The rest of the collection -

Wisteria & Violet

A soft morning shower, soaking purple wisteria cascading over London stone walls. Infused with the wet-petal scent of violets and water lily. Rain-washed and intoxicating.

White Jasmine & Mint

An afternoon cloudburst, drenching gardens exuberant with jasmine, orange flower and rose. Eccentric with its dash of scrambling wild mint. Enchanting and refreshing.

Black Cedarwood & Juniper

Midnight rain. Seductive with the carnal touch of cumin and chilli leaves. Dark with cedarwood. Humid with moss. Modern and urban.

Jo Malone London Rain Collection is available now and cost £82 for 100ml

Cheeky American Hot Nail Paint - Nails Of The Day

The weekend starts here!

I am loving this gorgeous and bright red glossy finish polish from Cheeky Chat Me Up Nail Paint in American Hot.

The brush is wide and flat for easy application, I used two coats but you could potentially get away with one if time was short.

Cheeky Chat Me Up Nail Paints cost £7 (just seen on the Superdrug site they are on sale for £4.65 at the moment!)

World Poetry Day - The Friday Column

I Failed

I walked past you day after day but you barely turned your head, I failed
I fluttered my eyelashes in the hope you would notice me, I failed
I tried to speak to you in person but no words would come out, I failed
I called you on your mobile but it went straight to voice mail, I failed
I sat down to write you a letter but my pen was out of ink, I failed
I wrote you a poem in my head and promptly fell asleep

Diego Dalla Palma Mascaramania Mascara Review

Diego Dalla Palma say

This is the mascara for those who like a maxi-volume effect on the lashes; a 3-in-1 mascara that lengthens, curls and thickens in one stroke. The large applicator has full bristles which comb the lashes and the separated coils release a maximum amount of product for maxi-volume. Its rich and creamy texture enhances the natural volume of the lashes.

My thoughts

I like this mascara a lot. It does exactly what it says - Lifts, curls, lengthens and thickens for gorgeous lashes. You can see below the before and after pics to see for yourself. This is achieved pretty much with one application, my only tiny niggle is that the wand is really long so my hands are so far from my eyes when applying. I prefer my wands a little shorter so that I feel really in control of the brush.

Burberry Lip Velvet Antique Pink No.303

My love affair with Burberry makeup continues...

Pictured above is a Burberry mini lipstick (utterly cute!) Burberry Lip Velvet in Antique Pink No.303

The mini lipsticks are adorable as the packaging still features the exquisite Burberry print that we know and love.

Antique Pink is a lovely warm pinky brown shade that lifts and warms the skin rather than drawing life out of it that I find with some brown toned lipsticks. The Lip Velvet formula is matte but not flat and extremely comfortable to wear on the lips. Perfectly pigmented to give a rich, even colour in just one application, staying power is good too lasting a few hours.

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

I have been painting my nails a lot recently and although I use a hand cream daily (more often than not a few times a day!) I thought it was time to take care of the actual nails and cuticles.

I picked up Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream and I am so glad I did. As the name suggests this smells of delicious and zesty lemons (the Lemon Oil) and is fabulously moisturising, you only need a tiny bit and the effect is instant.  My nails look super smooth, feel nourished and they positively gleam with health.

Big thumbs up here

Twinings Sweet Green Teas Range - Review

As soon as the Twinings Sweet Green Teas range popped up on their Facebook page I knew I had to try them..

Apparently a lot of people know the health benefits of green tea but dislike the bitterness of it so don't drink it. Twinings created a Sweet Green Tea range to convince people to give Green Tea another go!

I have to say that I am not a fan of pure green tea but I do like it with Jasmine, Orange and Lotus Flower and with Peach and Cherry Blossom. All fabulous teas from Twinings.

In tempting flavours of Salted Caramel, Caramelised Apple and Gingerbread the sweet green teas had to be tried. I soon was on the search for them in the Supermarket, only to be disappointed each time when they were out of stock. I then received an irresistible offer of 3 for 2 through the Facebook page if you ordered direct from the Twinings Website so promptly ordered all 3.  The teas arrived a few days later in beautiful packaging. I set to work drinking them (well someone has to!)

Brew Time - It is suggested a maximum of 2 minutes. Best enjoyed without milk

Gingerbread Green Tea

I am not a fan of anything ginger really so of all the flavours, this was not one that I would usually buy but as it was on 3 for 2 I thought I should at least try it.

Twinings say

The sweet aroma of a traditional cake shop. The tangy warmth of gingerbread baked to perfection. With real ginger pieces and golden syrup flavour, this is an entirely new take on traditional green tea. One that's utterly surprising...yet wonderfully familiar.

Ingredients - Green Tea, Ginger Root (29%), Natural Flavouring (5%)

My thoughts

This surprised me and in a good way. My aversion to all things ginger may have been slightly muted. Like drinking a liquid version of a ginger biscuit, it is subtle though. I liked it enough to finish the box but I most probably wouldn't repurchase as it just wasn't sweet enough to tempt me into another box.

Caramelised Apple Green Tea

Twinings say

Warm apple pie, freshly baked crumble. Few aromas can match the cosy embrace of these old favourites. Notes of golden toffee and a touch of spice from real cinnamon make this our most indulgent of blends. Sink into the sofa, relax and let the day drift by.

Ingredients - Green Tea, Natural Flavourings (14%), Cinnamon (1.5%)

My thoughts

This had a wonderful apple scent that drew me in, not as sweet as I was expecting but pleasant enough. Once again, the flavours are subtle. Nice to drink after lunch. However, I struggled to taste the cinnamon spice.

Salted Caramel Green Tea

Twinings say

Sweet but somehow slightly salty. Fresh tasting, yet somehow rich and warming. This tea is simply full of contradictions - accompanied by the most irresistibly indulgent notes of caramel. If you love the idea of green tea but also like the sweeter side of life, this may be the blend for you.

Ingredients - Green Tea, Natural Flavourings (7%)

My thoughts

I have to say that this is the tea I was most looking forward to and I just couldn't wait to tear open the packaging and rip open the envelope containing the tea bag.. and yet never have I been so underwhelmed and sadly so disappointed. I tried to detect the sweetness and completely failed, I tried to detect the saltiness and failed once more. I have since drunk another five of these teas and still cannot get excited about the Salted Caramel flavour. It promised so much but to my taste buds failed to deliver. Not sweet or salty for me, just a bland flavour that tastes of nothing that I can describe. Sure enough there is no bitter aftertaste but there is really nothing there at all :(

Final thoughts

I love the packaging, I love the individually wrapped envelopes with their pretty and tempting designs. I love the anticipation of flavour from the descriptions but unfortunately these failed to truly excite me or deliver enough flavour or sweetness to make me purchase them again. I will be sticking to the other Green Teas I mentioned above.

Rimmel London Salon Pro With Lycra Kate New Romantic - Nails Of The Day

Today I am embracing my romantic side with Rimmel London Salon Pro Nail Colour with Lycra in 227 New Romantic.

March GlossyBox 2014 - What's Inside Mine

It's that time again, the March Glossybox has been delivered, so what was inside mine...

This month's theme - 'Beauty Blossom' is a season change inspired box - marking the transition from Winter to Spring.

I have to say this month I was underwhelmed upon opening the ribbon and taking a quick peek inside, however a day later I had already used two of the products!

Mitchell and Peach Body Cream in English Growers 40ml (Full size 180ml £36)

Take a walk in the English countryside with this body cream that contains English honey, organic cocoa, vitamin B and shea butter.

My thoughts

The smell of this body cream is a bit too herby/floral/lavender for me so I will be passing this on. It  has a lovely texture and is non sticky. I am also impressed that this is paraben free and with no synthetic colours.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Shimmer Powders in Sensation 2.3g £12.99 (Full Size)

My thoughts

This is a highly intense shimmering eye shadow in white/silver, it would make a fab highlighter actually and Bellapierre say that the powder can be mixed to other makeup products to make custom makeup.

Sleek MakeUP Pout Polish SPF15 in Bare Minimum £4.49 (Full Size)

Tinted Balm SPF15 with almond oil, shea butter and vitamin E.

My thoughts

Predictably being the nude makeup fiend that I am this Pout Polish has already made its way into my handbag and been used. Bare Minimum is a gorgeous barely there nude shade that makes lips look very pretty and glossy without any sticky weight. Scent wise it smells like vanilla.

Helenere Maitrise du Temps 10ml £38.50 (Full Size)

An intensive serum that moisturises deeply while preventing skin ageing and adds skin elasricity to give a brighter complexion.

My thoughts

This Swiss brand is new to me but I am looking forward to trying out this serum and will keep you posted on my thoughts after use.

Dove Hair Therapy Intensive Repair 60 Second Treatment Shot 5ml £1.49 (Full Size)

A 60 second pick-me-up for hair promising soft, strong hair with a keratin boost.

My thoughts

I have already used this 60 second treatment shot, I am a big fan of Dove hair care products and even more so a fan of fast working products! This smells wonderful and leaves hair looking fabulous.

Final thoughts

Not terribly exciting on first glance but everything will get used one way or another! Value wise my box was worth an incredible £65! and contained 4 full size products.

Ciate Paint Pots in Jelly Bean - Nails Of The Day

Today's Nails Of The Day are from Ciate Paint Pots - This is Jelly Bean.

I used 2 coats for opacity and a glossy finish. Jelly Bean is a bright, hot pink.

*I seem to have managed to mislay the cute little bow that normally features on the Paint Pots, not a clue where it has got to!

Tesco Finest Earl Grey Tea

No tea selection, or as I like to call it - tea wardrobe, is complete without the inclusion of some Earl Grey. Mention Earl Grey and people think of a product steeped in tradition, a drink for afternoon tea, classy and with a regal background, if a little posh! Apparently, however the origins of Earl Grey (before it got its iconic name) was that of a black tea flavoured with bergamot to imitate the expensive Chinese teas of the time. Served by Lady Grey at her parties, she approached a tea company to make it available to a wider audience...and so Earl Grey was born.

Back to modern day..

I fancied a tea that I could drink and enjoy in the afternoon without adding milk (I only add milk to a straight black tea) and so I purchased a box of Tesco Finest Fragrant & Refreshing Earl Grey.

Tesco say

A delicate blend of Indonesian black tea infused with the flavour of bergamot orange rind for a distinctive hint of citrus.

Add a splash of milk or a slice of lemon

My thoughts

Leaving the tea bag in water for 2/3 minutes is ample time for the wonderful fragrant  flavour to be imparted. Any longer and I find it too strong, if a little bitter, which for me is not pleasant to drink. This has the perfect balance of a smokey yet delightfully fragrant tea...pleasingly its aroma matches its taste.

Fox's Caramel Caffe Thins - A Perfect Coffee Accompaniment

As I say often on these pages I am not in the habit of having a cake or a biscuit with my tea or coffee (probably because I know just how many calories are in the morsels of deliciousness..) however I made the mistake of walking down the biscuit aisle and these happened to catch my eye.

Fox's Caramel Caffe Thins

Part of the new Created For Coffee range these are described as being intense caramel flavoured biscuits, perfect with a rich coffee.

What grabbed my attention was the claim of just 27 calories per biscuit!

My thoughts

I thought that these biscuits were not going to be substantial enough but I was surprised that they were actually thicker than I was expecting. The biscuits are not overly crunchy or too soft, just perfect. The  sweet caramel flavour complements a coffee nicely.

The Best Blusher To Wear With Red Lipstick

For years I shied away from wearing red lipstick, I think it was a combination of lacking in confidence to carry it off,  feeling it was just too bright and 'out there' for me and not really knowing how best to wear it. Remember, when I was younger we just didn't have the wealth of information, blogs and vlogs that exist now!

However, if you read my blog you will have noticed that recently I have been far more adventurous. Actually, in my 30's I am really enjoying wearing more reds and in experimenting I am learning which reds suit me and even daring to wear a cheeky red during the day...

One of my main issues was working out what blush to best team with a red lip. A lot of people say that you don't need to wear a blusher when wearing a red lipstick. I wasn't blessed with nice, defined cheekbones so I have to cheat, so for me, going without blusher is just not an option.

Happily I have found the perfect blusher to go with a red lipstick and it is Cargo Cosmetics Blush in Tonga

I apply this blusher every time I wear a red lipstick but it is also ideal for wearing with a nude/natural look and understated look too.

Tonga is a beautiful neutral matte shade that has a silky smooth texture, almost cream-like, which when applied provides a barely there, sheer appearance on the skin. Blendable and buildable, I like that you can define the cheeks as much or as little as necessary.

Cargo Cosmetics Blush in Tonga costs £19 and is available from Debenhams.

Lush Let The Good Times Roll Cleanser Review

Lush's Let The Good Times Roll face & body cleanser was a Christmas special but has now become part of the permanent line due to popular demand.

Lush say

Made with maize flour and polenta to gently exfoliate, and cinnamon powder to stimulate and leave your skin feeling soft. Let The Good Times Roll is topped off with corn oil and popcorn to leave your skin with an irresistible caramel buttery scent and a natural glow.

My thoughts

Opening the tub the product looks like playdoh and smells deliciously sweet. To use you take a small piece in your hands and mix with warm water to make a paste. Massage into the skin before rinsing off with water. The less water you use the more exfoliating it feels, if a little harsh. However, mixed with plenty of water it is smoother and more gentle on the skin.

Results - I am super impressed with this fresh cleanser I have to say. Drying my skin afterwards I loved how bright and clear it looked from the very first use and just how incredibly baby soft it has left my skin feeling. I have a wonderful glow to my skin that wasn't there before and no tightness after cleansing, just fabulous skin.

I have been using this for almost 4 days now and am loving it. A lot.

Let the good times roll indeed.

Mandara Spa Bali Santi Collection - Home Pampering For Just £20!

I have fallen in love with Mandara Spa's latest bath and body collection - Bali Santi. Taking inspiration from the exotic spa rituals of Indonesia, Mandara Spa have selected naturally pampering ingredients which are used in the traditional spa rituals of Bali.

The delicious key ingredients in this collection are - Coconut Oil, Yoghurt, Lotus Flower Milk, Sweet Almond Oil, Rose Flower Petals, Aloe and Cocoa.

Coconut Oil is a buzz word right now, the benefits being exalted whether used in health, beauty or food so this is a timely release.

There are 3 products in the Bali Santi collection -

Mandara Spa Bali Santi Indulgent Bath & Shower Cream With Coconut Oil & Yoghurt £7

Mandara Spa say

An indulgent blend of coconut oil, yoghurt and lotus flower milk to help leave skin feeling soft and smooth after bathing.

My thoughts

This bath & shower cream is rich and creamy. It has a lovely pearly sheen to it and is perfect to swirl in the bath for some soft bubbles and luxurious bathing or used as a shower cream. It has a gorgeous coconut scent and leaves skin feeling beautifully soft and smooth as it promises.

Mandara Spa Bali Santi Energising Body Scrub £8

Mandara Spa say

A traditional blend of energising coffee granules and comforting coconut oil awakens the senses and stimulates the body.

My Thoughts

The body scrub is my favourite product from the Bali Santi collection. It smells so incredibly delectable! Smelling of delicious chocolate mousse, with a soft, silky texture which is then blended with exfoliating coffee granules, it leaves skin wonderfully smooth. However, as it is the colour of chocolate too, bath water is left looking dirty and murky. Fabulous.

Mandara Spa Bali Santi Nurturing Body Milk With Coconut Oil and Lotus Flower Milk £5

Mandara Spa say

A soothing blend of coconut and sweet almond oils, blended with  lotus flower milk and yoghurt, work to deeply moisturise the skin leaving it calm and nourished.

My thoughts

As expected this body milk is scented with coconut but has a slight spicy after-note to it which stops it from being too sweet and heavy. A light, fluid body moisturiser than leaves skin feeling soft. A nice finish to body pampering.

Final thoughts -

Exotic print, bright packaging that add a splash of colour to the bathroom shelf, the real treat however are the contents inside. Lock the bathroom door and allow yourself to be transported to Bali with Bali Santi. A great, indulgent and inexpensive pamper in the comfort of your own home.

Dove Intensive Repair Express Treatment Conditioner - My Hair Loves

I don't know about you but I rarely have the luxury of time to apply a twenty minute conditioning hair treatment so I am all for fast working products and so I was super keen to try the one minute intensive repair treatment for hair from Dove.

I have been impressed by the previous hair care products I am tried from the brand and so last week instead of my usual conditioner I applied the one minute Dove Intensive Repair Express Treatment, waited just 60 seconds and rinsed it off.

Dove say

Introducing the next generation of daily conditioner with the added benefits of a treatment. Dove Intensive Repair Express Treatment Conditioner works in just one minute. Our dual action formula contains Fibre Actives™ technology which penetrate deep inside the hair to help reinforce damaged proteins without weighing hair down as well as helping to repair and sealing lifted cuticles to help protect against future damage. Prevents split ends and breakage.

My thoughts

Can a product be so nourishing and leave hair soft, smooth and silky really in just one minute? The answer is a resounding yes. The treatment smells like the other products in the Dove range, fresh and fruity. Once I had rinsed it off I it left my hair more manageable and gorgeous after blow drying and straightening and actually, although it is suitable for daily use I found that my hair stayed looking beautiful for longer, without looking greasy and weighed down. My hair instantly looks healthier and more vibrant.

A big thumbs up from me.

Higher Living Fab Four The Sampler Herbal Teas

Having been really rather taken by Higher Living's Sweet Chai I was looking forward to trying out the next box .. This time it was a variety box - The Sampler FAB FOUR containing a suggestion for various moments in the day. Don't you just love it when someone helps plan your day for you ;-)

The box contains 20 teabags with 5 x 4 different herbal infusion teas.

Start your day with Ginger Kick - A warming ginger infusion combining ginger (60% ) with lemon peel.

I am not a fan of ginger in any shape or form so this was the one I was looking forward to trying the least. It was surprisingly ok, slightly more refreshing with the inclusion of the lemon peel. I would finish this because I can see the benefits of ginger but it hasn't quite converted to drink it for pleasure!

However, I know many people do so I can see the reason for its inclusion in the box.

Beat the afternoon slump with Vitality - A sweet and tangy infusion combining zesty orange peel and green mate with aromatic allspice.

This is very similar to the Sweet Chai but has less of a sweet aftertaste. Still very nice and I would drink this mid morning or afternoon.

After dinner why not drink a fruity Very Berry - A zingy berry infusion combining hibiscus, rosehip, acai berries and blueberries.

I enjoyed drinking this mid afternoon. Very Berry smelt deliciously berrylike and tasted just as good. I loved it and was pleased to see you can buy a box of just Very Berry from Higher Living. I would definitely purchase this separately. It is like a Summer Fruit Squash but healthier.

End the night with a calming Night - A relaxing evening infusion combining lemon balm, lavender, chamomile with a soothing blend of herbs.

This was a nice way to end the evening, the blend is far nicer than a straight chamomile which I have tried and dismissed as not for me. Chamomile with a nice little extra, does the trick of helping me sleep better and deeper through the night.

All in all a nice box to introduce you to herbal teas.

Higher Living Fab Four The Sampler Selection costs £1.99

Spring Pampering With Nuxe

Skincare brand Nuxe recently got in touch with me to create a post on Spring Pampering With Nuxe products.,, and to be honest although there is a chance of winning a Pamper Hamper for doing so, I was more than happy to take a look at their website and create a wishlist. Who doesn't love a bit of virtual beauty shopping?

With the weather warming up and the sun breaking out, flowers are beginning to poke through heralding the start of Spring, for me it is the Daffodils that really shout SPRING IS HERE!

From central heating to the outside cold, wet, weather of Winter, it can all take a toll on skin. Spring is the perfect time to look at your skincare and bodycare products, indulge in some pampering and perhaps swap a few items for the change of season...

I have tried a few Nuxe products and they are simply divine. In fact their hand cream is one of my all time favourites so it is only natural that top of my list would be  -

Reve de Miel Hand and Nail Cream

This hand cream smells so good, very summery and it really works. I have only in the last few years become a bit of a hand cream of obsessive, I want to keep my hands looking as young and smooth as possible.

Top to toe pampering would start with creating some bathroom ambiance with the Candle Spa

A rich and indulgently honey scented Nuxe Ultra Rich Body Cleansing Gel , soap free

Exfoliating for extra smooth skin with the Nude Fondant Body Scrub

and locking it all in with a decent body moisturiser that doubles up as a firming and anti aging product sounds pretty ace to me with Nuxe Body Firming Fondant Cream

Facial skincare wise being a huge lover of rose products I would love to try the following delicious sounding products.

Remove make up from face, eyes and lips with the refreshing sounding Micellar Cleansing Water with Rose Petals

Treating my face to a purifying face mask once a week Clarifying Cream-Mask with Rose Petals

I love using serums as part of my skincare routine, improved radiance and plumpness of the skin are always a plus sign and not to be sniffed at .. however I am having a little trouble deciding which serum would be best suited for my age as I don't want to apply anything too rich so NUXE I would welcome some advice

Would it be Sérum Merveillance

or Sérum Nuxuriance

Finally, my eyes are my biggest bugbear, they age me far more than anything else due to years of being ravaged by hay fever and the constant rubbing that I did, so a good eye cream is pretty essential to ward of any further damage and make my peepers pretty and bright. I would love to try the Prodigieux Eye Contour

So there you have it - my Spring Pampering Treats Selection with Nuxe
