Bright Lights, Big City
Emily Mae’s eyes danced wildly with excitement, the sky was alight with every colour under the sun. Gasping in awe at the sheer size of the skyscrapers, she slowly breathed in the tainted air of NYC with a sadistic pleasure, this city was hers for the taking. She had dreamt of her name in lights ever since she could remember. She could dance, she could sing and she had guts. Papa may have failed in his bid, but now she had finally arrived, she was not going to let this place defeat her. Broadway, a star was born.

Dear Bettina,
ReplyDeleteHer attitude's positive and she sounds determined. Good voice. Hope the city doesn't beat her down, too.
Shalom,
Rochelle
That left me breathless. You painted a vivid picture of Emily Mae.

Half the battle is attitude and she's got some aplenty
ReplyDeleteShe has the right attitude, I hope she gets the slice of luck she needs and sees her name in lights.
ReplyDeleteShe's got evertything she needs plus determination! A perfect recipe for success. Go for it gal!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Keith's Ramblings!
You convey her excitement and determination very well. Nicely written!
ReplyDeleteYou captured one of the many dreams born in NY...
ReplyDeleteHigh hopes! May she reach her dream :)
ReplyDeleteLove her determination.
ReplyDeleteA bit of sadism in her personality could help her through in such a highly competitive arena. Not for the faint-hearted. She sounds as though she could make it there and if you can make it there - you know the rest :) Jilly, Sugar on the Bee.
