Steps To Success
‘Cut’
Someone handed Evie a blanket and a hot drink which she
accepted, hungrily. Smeared in mud and red liquid, she detested every minute of
this dreadful ‘B’ movie. ‘Necessary evil’ her agent had explained when he had
sent her for the role. Her outstanding beauty meant she got the part without so
much as opening her mouth. The plum parts had somehow eluded her thus far. This
would be her big break, she could feel it.
As the pterodactyl
swooped down, she gave it her all, screaming as if her life depended on it. Her
bank balance certainly did.

You have to earn your way to the top, we've all had moments like this, even if we're not actors. Nice tale.
ReplyDeleteThis year a B movie, next year an Oscar! Nice one Bettina.
ReplyDeleteMy FriFic tale is called Solace!
Great little story - it reminded me of Raquel Welch in the dreadful film, One Million Years BC. :)

I liked this take, Bettina.
ReplyDeleteSo hard for a pretty face to be taken seriously in Hollywood!
Baby steps.
ReplyDeleteDear Bettina,
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many aspiring actresses can tell this same story. Well done.

Nicely written.
ReplyDeleteI am sure it will be a cult classic. Being gorgeous enough for a part in a B movie that feeds your bank balance isn't the worst situation in the world. Would she maybe feel eager or desperate for that hot drink, rather than hungry? Jilly (Sugar on the Bee).
ReplyDeleteShe'll make her way, I'm sure. Good story.
ReplyDeleteI loved your pay-off line! Pragmatic and 'do-whatever-it-takes'!
